Architectural Design

What is Architectural Design?

Architectural design is not the same as what an architect does.  I am not an architect. I pull upon my experience as a general contractor, interior designer, and builder in order to bring clients’ dreams for their spaces into fruition.

Why use an Architectural Designer?

The design process starts with you, the client – the desired scope of your project, your stylistic preferences, priorities, budget, and function are the starting point for our partnership.  I believe deeply that homeowners already know what they need and want – they just need help to make it happen.

Full floorplan and elevation sets that can be used for cost estimates from a builder, the construction process itself, and obtaining permits. These sets can stand on their own with review from a structural engineer.  In addition, I can build spaces in 3-D, which helps clients visualize the potential of their space.

In-depth knowledge of construction materials and costs, local building codes, and the ability to design to fit a client’s budget

What projects I focus on

My work is solely focused on renovations and additions, not full-scale new construction.  While I have worked with new construction during my career, my passion is customizing a client’s current space to meet their needs and dreams. If you need new construction, there are several wonderful architects I work with frequently. They specialize in the architectural design, and I work with you on the interior design and finish selections.

Interior Design

What is the difference between Architectural Design and Interior Design?

Interior design focuses on the finishes in a space

Selections can include tile, countertops, cabinetry design, built-in design, colors, textures, wood types and tones, wall coverings, window & door styles, plumbing and electrical fixtures (faucets and decorative lighting), hardware, etc.

Furniture and art selections/placement - the icing on the cake!

What does an Interior Design final product look like?

We can make finish selection packages suitable for pricing and construction for either renovations/additions – or new construction homes (designed by an architect).

Finish selection packages are not just for interiors – they include exterior finishes, too. Details such as siding, stone, trim, railings, decking, and any exterior architectural elements will be thoughtfully selected.

I create finish selection packages for a variety of budgets and styles.  I believe in designing with and for the client, and not based on ‘my style’.  My goal is to help my clients find their style and execute it very well.

Outdoor Living

Thoughtful design of outdoor living spaces can expand your living space and allow clients to enjoy outdoor spaces more than ever before. I started my career with outdoor living spaces, and always love going back to my roots!

Decks, patios, pergolas, walls, steps, covered porches, new entries, pools and hot tubs, outdoor kitchens and grading/drainage solutions are just the start of making your yard a space to enjoy year-round.

I team up with some amazing local horticulturists to select and install plantings that suit the overall design holistically and that will be hardy, lush, and just right for this climate.
