Channel Designs was started by Laurin Robertson in Asheville, NC. Laurin is a licensed General Contractor from North Carolina with twenty years of design/build experience.
Laurin received a Fine Arts degree and then a horticulture degree in Chicago. She started designing and building landscapes in Chicagoland. These grew from planting beds and patios to million dollar outdoor living spaces. When she bought a little old house built in 1868, she fell in love with the dust, drafts and plaster. After a full renovation, she traded a shovel for a hammer, and never looked back from building houses.
After too many long, cold winters in Chicago, Laurin took her kids back home to the mountains outside of Asheville, North Carolina. She has built homes from scratch for herself and clients, and has designed and overseen countless renovations. Old houses and barns are her passion. She lives, breathes, and dreams of design.
When she’s not designing, she’s raising four kids with her wife on a little useless farm. Children, horses, dogs, cats, chickens, and the occasional pet turkey run amok.
